Guy Nicholson is a chartered engineer with 27 years’ experience of renewables and is the founder of Econnect. He is a highly respected authority on grid integration issues both in the UK and in Europe, and has delivered presentations at major renewable events around the world.

Guy represents generators on the GB Grid Code Review Panel and on the UK Ofgem DTI Distribution Working Group. He is an advocate for renewable energy, sustainability and a low carbon global economy.

Stephen Bell, Managing Director

Stephen Bell is a Chartered Engineer (IET) and holds an MBA, as well as a first degree in Electronics.

With an extensive background in high technology industries, Stephen has over 25 years' technical and business management experience and has spent the last 10 years running businesses in the North East of England.

James Hunt entered the renewable energy sector in 2004 after 16 years as a meteorologist and oceanographer in the Royal Navy. His industry expertise includes developing energy strategies to assessments of renewable and alternative energy technologies.

James is a strong advocate of climate change mitigation in all its forms, from a renewables perspective he champions the future potential for marine energy.

Robert Holmes, MD Econnect Asia-Pacific

Robert Holmes has over 30 years’ experience in senior management roles with multi- national corporations in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. His industry expertise spans the automotive, high technology capital goods and power generation sectors.

Prior to joining Econnect, Robert worked with a solar power technology company and a global supplier of power generation equipment and systems. He has experience in the development, construction and operation of large power generation projects in the mining, energy and utility sectors.

Bryan Grinham
Managing Director - Econnect Construction

Bryan Grinham has over 25 years experience in the construction and large capital equipment industries. He has an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering gained at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and has worked within the power, water and oil & gas sectors.

Before joining Econnect Construction in February '08, Bryan was the Managing Director of a waste water treatment company in S Africa which constructed turnkey projects for a variety of industrial and municipal customers. Prior to that he was responsible for the sale and installation of gas turbine driven power stations.

Iain McLean
Managing Director - Econnect Ventures

Iain McLean is a chartered engineer with over 20 years in leadership of early stage technology companies. He was VP Operations for a pioneer company in the fuel cell industry and a sales and marketing manager for a manufacturer of heat shrinkable electrical accessories.

Most recently Iain has led companies in diverse markets such as local government and healthcare.  A graduate of Imperial College and Harvard Business School, Iain has worked in the UK, Australia, France and Canada.  

Chris Porter, Director

Chris Porter is a sales professional with a wealth of experience, having held positions such as Director of Sales for an international textile manufacturer and Sales & Marketing Director for an electronic information display manufacturer.

Chris took up the position of Business Development Director at Econnect in 2002 and then in 2005 also became Sales Director of Wind Direct.

Jonathan Hill, Director

Jonathan Hill started working in renewable energy in 1982 when he joined the electrical team of Northumbrian Energy Workshop Ltd., a pioneering company specialising in wind and hydro generation projects.

Jonathan has been with Econnect since its formation and was instrumental in the successful start-up of Econnect Australia in 2003. He is now responsible for developing and commercialising the applications of Econnect’s innovative R&D products for integrating renewable generation into grid networks.
