University Takes DWG Register

As part of the Active Networks Programme in DWG, The University of Strathclyde has recently updated the Register of Active Management Pilots, Trials, Research, Development and Demonstration Activities, which was originally developed in 2006.

The Register, which now includes over 120 projects, is an excellent resource for network engineers, distributed generation developers and academics who have an interest in active networks, and wish to understand the development work of others, and its potential further application.

Econnect’s work on ‘synchronous compensators for mini-grids and islanding’ on behalf of for BERR (DTI) and the application of GenAVC active network management at Steyning substation are amongst those projects detailed in the register.

The Register aims to provide clear statements of the status of recently completed, ongoing and planned active network management field pilot and trial activities, international developments in related areas, and research, development and demonstration activities.

In addition it will engage with active network management projects and provide support and co-ordination to maximise the outcome from such activities.

Further details and a copy of the updated register can be found at http://www.ensg.gov.uk/index.php?article=95
