Econnect Asia-Pacific has bolstered its team in advance of the opening of an office in New Zealand in the New Year.

With Senior Engineer, Jeremy Warman soon heading to his native New Zealand to open the new office, Chris Farmer has been recruited to the Australian team.

Chris’ career spans over 20 years, with experience in electrical distribution, planning and design. He has previously worked as Package Engineer at ALCAN where he was involved with the G3 Expansion Project, worth over AUD $2 billion.

Chris also worked as a consultant at SKM where he undertook strategic planning studies, and overhead and underground distribution design for Electricity Utilities. He is also experienced in substation primary and secondary systems design. Chris is looking forward to the new challenges ahead in renewables.

Meanwhile, Rohan Fernando is the latest Power Systems Engineer to join Econnect Asia Pacific and will soon open the new office in Wellington with Jeremy.

Rohan recently brings with him over 13 years’ experience in the electrical power industry and previously worked for Transpower as an employee and subcontractor. His key areas of expertise include power systems planning, modelling, reliability engineering and project management.

During his career working for various distribution companies, Rohan has been involved in transmission and distribution for lines companies and evaluation of generators, to ensure electricity governance rules, electricity obligations and standards were met.

Rohan recently completed a MBA, whilst other career highlights have included HVDC investigation for grid enhancement in the Auckland region and working as a Project Manager for the Rotokawa 24MW Geothermal binary cycle power plant.

Rohan’s induction has begun in Melbourne and will continue in the Hexham office before he returns to New Zealand early 2008.
