Electricians Flock to Econnect
Electricians in the region are flocking to join a rising star in the UK renewables industry, as global demand for green energy continues to increase apace.
Hexham based Econnect Construction has recruited six electricians in the last four weeks, in order to handle the company’s massive growth and new contract wins in Scotland and the North East.
The new recruits from Stanley, Bedlington, Blyth, Co. Durham and Barrow in Furness are already onsite in areas such as Earlsburn in Scotland and High Pow in Cumbria.

With 10 electrical connection projects on the go at wind farms throughout the UK and Ireland, Econnect Construction is also recruiting engineers and project managers at a rate of knots.
One of the new electricians, John Halliday from Bedlington, previously worked for a major energy business and is excited at the prospect of joining such a booming young industry. John said:
“This is a massive growth industry and it’s great to be involved. Climate change and carbon emissions are in the news almost every day now and if developers are going to connect to the national grid they’re going to need electricians, which is great news for us.
“Econnect Construction has a great name in renewable energy, with a reputation for getting jobs done and to budget, so the work is going to be intense, but the rewards are definitely there too.”
Econnect Construction’s Managing Director, Paul Glendinning commented:
“To take on one or two people at once usually signifies growth, but we needed to take on six electricians to fill our existing project needs and are already looking to take on more.
“Other companies seem to be having difficulty in filling positions like this, so we are delighted that the Econnect name is proving such a draw.”
