Econnect Powers Undergraduate’s Career
Econnect Asia-Pacific is helping to boost the career of an electrical engineering undergraduate, by sponsoring him on the Power Career in Focus (PCIF) mentoring program.
Tom Butler joins the group’s Melbourne office, for a 3-month stay, as part of his year-long mentoring program. He will gain hands-on experience and vital one-to-one tuition from an experienced Econnect electrical engineer.
The PCIF program, run by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (Australia), has been introduced to address the widespread skills shortage in Victoria’s power industry. Designed by the IET’s Young Members Committee, the program links final year tertiary students and employers, with a view to retaining talent prospects that may otherwise have been lost.
Tom has just completed his 3rd year of a Bachelor of Engineering double major in Renewable Energy Engineering and Power Engineering, and is excited about the opportunity of working with Econnect.
Tom said: “The expansion of renewable energy on an international level is one of the highest priorities for an ecologically sound future.
“It’s great to be able to play a part in this future by linking up with an international renewables business such as Econnect.”
Tom brings with him 10 years experience in the electrical trade and is set to graduate from Murdoch University in Western Australia in 2008.
