Developing SmartGrids

Econnect CEO Guy Nicholson attended the SmartGrids 2nd General Assembly at Kloster Banz in November.

Guy reported: "The key to enable SmartGrids will be a regulatory regime, rewarding grid and network operators who introduce the new technologies - and which penalises those that do not.

“Networks are different to normal businesses since their customers do not have a choice of providers, as they do, for example, with their supplier (retailer) in a liberalised electricity market."

Econnect is taking a global lead in SmartGrid technologies with products such as GenAVC for active network management, allowing the integration of even more DG into existing distribution networks.

Demand for Wind for DMS allows the integration of more wind to transmission systems; the GridConnection web site automates, accelerates and provides smart connection designs for customers; and Econnect's cutting edge innovation in island and diesel grids with carbon savings and high penetrations of renewables through the integration of storage and DSM.
